My Story
I’m Samantha. A native of Chester County, PA, and a current resident of Delaware County, PA.
One fun fact about me is that I took up karate (specifically, the Korean tang soo do style) in 4th grade and earned my black belt in 8th grade. Every Saturday morning for the next 5 years, I taught karate to students of all ages, sizes, ranks and genders.
Another fun fact about me is that I love music and performance. I joined my high school choir in 10th grade, even traveling to Italy and France to sing with them. In my senior year of college, my professor elected me to lead the choir’s soprano section, and my friends appointed me as music director of our school’s first-ever coed a cappella group, founded by us.
So, how are these activities related to my professional career?
They gave me leadership skills at a young age. They instilled confidence in a girl who was constantly ridiculed for everything from her intelligence to her body type. I gained a sense of self-discipline and was no longer afraid to take initiative. I worked alongside a multitude of personalities and learned how to connect with people from varying walks of life, which is an invaluable skill in the workplace. Adrenaline rushes through me when I do two things: learn new skills, and foster relationships with people.
Hence, the career path that’s led me here today. I love researching and trying new things, and see failure as an opportunity to improve (which I’m aware is not everyone’s jam, but I digress). I’ve dipped a toe in every aspect of digital marketing but quickly discovered an affinity for email automation, data analytics and front-end web development. I’m fascinated by how tech and marketing affect each other and want to hone my skills in those subfields, while teaching those around me how tech can improve their everyday operations. My love of reaching people introduced me to my work in the historical preservation nonprofit sector. I’ve taught myself HTML and CSS and am finishing up a Business Intelligence intensive from Codecademy to advance my data cleaning and presentation skills.
I’m excited for the next stop along my career journey, and hope you’ll join me. If you like what you’ve read so far and want to learn more, feel free to reach out and introduce yourself!
